Help Cabaret Vs Cancer meet our 10th anniversary fundraising goal!
2026 is our 10th anniversary, and we’d love to reach a grand total of £500,000 in those 10 years.
The October firewalk is a great way to help us reach that target and support those affected by a cancer diagnosis. Learn more about where the money we raise goes.
Courage is not the absence of fear.
It is the ability to operate despite fear!

Why take part in a charity firewalk?
Getting involved with a firewalk is an inspirational and barrier-breaking experience, and a wonderful way to raise money for a fantastic cause.
You will feel motivated and empowered to face your fears, surrounded by other participants who will be cheering you on.
Plus, because of the type of challenge, lots of donors offer higher sponsorship than they might for other activities, such as a sponsored walk or sports challenge, meaning you can raise an amazing amount for cancer support charities.

How to sign up for our charity firewalk
To secure your place on the 2026 firewalk (or Fire Walk With Me, for the Twin Peaks fans amongst us), please complete the sign-up form.
Once you’ve signed up, you’ll be added to our mailing list so we can keep you up to date with all the details.
You’ll then be asked to complete a registration form, pay a deposit of £25, and pledge to raise at least £150 in sponsorship.

How to raise money for the charity firewalk
In the weeks and months leading up to the firewalk event, you’ll have the chance to raise as much sponsorship money as you can.
At Cabaret vs Cancer, we prefer to use the fundraising platform, Wonderful, which is a free service and ensures 100% of the money YOU raise comes to the charity. You can find our Wonderful page here.
However other sponsorship sites are available, including Just Giving, which allows for non-UK donations to be collected.
If you’d like, you can set up a fundraiser on both sites. You can also ask friends and family to sponsor you, hold cake sales at work, or anything else that will help you reach your target.
What happens on the day?
Exact timings will be confirmed to you nearer to the event, but registration will take from around 6pm.
The fire will be lit at around 7.30pm, and the firewalk itself will take place just after 8pm.
6.30pm: Motivational session with Blaze
All firewalk participants must first go through a training seminar: Blaze’s motivational psychology fear buster seminar called “Learn or Burn”.
This seminar doesn’t involve any use of fire or coals. It’s designed to equip you with the resources required to walk unharmed across 6 metres of burning embers. The training is based around proven motivational and psychological methods. It does not involve any element of hypnosis, spiritual training, chanting, “brainwashing‟, or any similar methodologies.
It is, however, tremendous fun!
The following course outcomes can be expected:
-
Increased confidence and self-esteem
-
Released fears and doubts
-
A breakthrough from limiting beliefs and conditioning
-
A transformation of fear into positive action
-
Lots of fun and laughter.
8.00pm: Firewalk time!
After the training seminar, you will be led out to the fire, which will be located just a few minutes away. You will then have the opportunity, one by one, to walk across the 20ft fire lane.

Important health and safety notes
Please be aware that no drugs or alcohol are allowed before or during the event (although a few celebratory drinks will probably be enjoyed afterwards!).
Prospective participants must not be under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The Blaze team will refuse to accept any participant if they believe this is the case. The event insurance covers participants while they are in the training seminar, the outside fire area, and the spectators.
Every effort will be made to ensure your safety, however, participants are not insured the moment they step onto the fire lane. Each participant will be required to fill in a disclaimer form before they start training, explaining the risks and that they are responsible for their own actions and participation. You take part in the firewalk at your own risk.
Charity Firewalk FAQs
What is firewalking?
In a nutshell, firewalking is an activity where sponsored individuals go through a motivational training session and then walk across 20 feet (just over 6 metres) of burning embers.
How hot are the embers we’ll walk over?
The firewalking walkway will be glowing hot at a temperature of 669℃ (1236℉). But don’t worry, you’ll go through a complete training session so you won’t experience any pain or injury.
Who is facilitating the firewalk?
Our charity fundraising event will be led by Blaze, UK firewalk experts. There will also be a Cabaret Vs Cancer production manager onsite to help out with any questions you may have.
Is firewalking safe?
We have chosen to work with Blaze because of their impeccable professional record and they will get you through the event in complete safety. Blaze have been offering firewalks for over 30 years, and their safety checks and procedures are fine-tuned. The team organising the walk is extremely experienced. Out of all the events they have facilitated, not one person attending a motivational training has refused the opportunity to firewalk.
Do I need to do any preparation before the firewalk?
Aside from sponsorship, you won’t need to worry about preparing anything ahead of the activity. On the evening of the event, you will take part in a motivational psychology fear-busting seminar, which will equip you with the resources to walk across the fire bed unharmed.
What should I wear for the firewalk?
You’ll need bare feet and lower calves, and any flowing fabric should not come lower than your calf. Other than that, you can dress as fabulously as you like. If sequins are your thing, absolutely go for it — they look fab in the firelight! Whatever you go for, remember to dress comfortably.
You must also be ready, in make up and costume if applicable, before the training seminar starts — there won’t be any time to get ready in between.
Your feet will get mucky during the firewalk, so we recommend bringing some wet wipes and an old towel.
Can I bring friends and supporters along on the night?
You are encouraged to bring supporters and spectators with you. We will provide pre-walk entertainment from cabaret and street performers. Plus, there will be a great selection of food and drinks available from our friends at Signature Brewery!
Please note: No spectators, videos, cameras or audio equipment are allowed in the “Learn or Burn” seminar, although they are welcome at the walk itself.
Can I fundraise a part of a team?
Of course! You can absolutely team up with someone if you wish, however, the targets remain the same. So, if there are two of you, you'll need to raise 2 x the minimum pledge. For example, you would need to raise 10 x the minimum pledge for a group of ten.
