Charity events summer round-up: What a season for Cabaret Vs Cancer!

And just like that, summer is coming to an end. Whether you’ve adored the sunshine or can’t wait for spooky season and the comfort of autumn, now is the perfect time to look back on the spectacular array of charity events we’ve enjoyed.

Ashes to Ashes

No summer would be complete without Ashes to Ashes at the beautiful Wilton's Music Hall. 

This year we introduced some new merchandise alongside our ever-popular David Bowie socks. And don’t worry, if you missed them there, you can get your mitts on a whole host of charity merch at the Cabaret Vs Cancer shop!

We also welcomed new supporters, and enjoyed another fantastic run of shows. 

Together, we raised more than £11,000 through ticket sales, raffle tickets and merchandise. 

Huge thanks to Duffy Archive, You're Not Alone at the Lightroom, and everyone who helps make this event such a success year after year. 

Thunder in our Hearts

Next, we headed to the Royal Vauxhall Tavern, where Dave Cross and Michael Twaits presented their fifth cabaret and drag tribute to Kate Bush: ‘Thunder in our Hearts’. 

Held on Kate's actual birthday, this charity show was a wonderful celebration and raised more than £3,300 for Cabaret vs Cancer.

Riff Raff Kabarett

Over in Walthamstow, we joined Molly Beth Morossa and Ruby Wednesday for Riff Raff Kabarett at the legendary Walthamstow Trades Hall. 

The famous Riff-Raffle raised £471, with prizes including a bottle of Advocaat, a seaside hamper, and plenty more treats. 

And let’s not forget JAX, the recent monster knitted by Rose!

MASTER-Mind II

Then it was back south of the river at the Royal Vauxhall Tavern for MASTER-Mind II, the Doctor Who quiz created by Dave Cross, Richard Unwin, and Beth Axford. 

The event featured a very special guest appearance from Doctor Who legend, Katy Manning. Alongside some fiercely competitive quizzing, supporters helped raise more than £1,400 through the raffle. 

Prizes included tea and cake with Katy herself, as well as a selection of Doctor Who-themed hampers put together by our very own Rose Thorne.

REBEL REBEL 

Rounding off the summer, our Patron Dusty Limits and Ambassadors Belle De Beauvoir and Julie Ann Laidlaw took REBEL REBEL to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

What better way to bring a little Bowie magic to audiences? They raised more than £800 in donations.

We are always grateful when producers, venues and performers invite Cabaret vs Cancer to be part of their events. Whether it's hosting a raffle, selling merchandise or collecting donations, it's a simple and risk-free way to support people affected by cancer.

Our brilliant team of London-based volunteers are always ready to help. Armed with card machines, raffle tickets and plenty of enthusiasm, they can help raise valuable funds at your event. We can even provide the prizes!
